What are Tatami & Futon?

畳（たたみ）

日本の和室で使われる伝統的な床材。靴を脱いで、座ったり寝転んだりしてくつろぎます。

Tatami are traditional Japanese floor mats used in Japanese-style rooms. You take off your shoes before stepping onto them and can sit, relax, or lie down directly on the tatami.

布団（ふとん）
畳の上などに敷いて眠る、日本の伝統的な寝具。使わないときは畳んで収納できます。

A futon is traditional Japanese bedding laid out on the floor for sleeping, often on tatami. Unlike a bed, it can be folded and stored away during the day, allowing the room to be used as a living space.

Tatami is a delicate, traditional Japanese flooring. Avoid dragging suitcases or heavy luggage, and keep water, drinks, and wet items off the tatami to prevent damage.

畳はデリケートな日本の伝統的な床材です。スーツケースや重い荷物は引きずらず、水や飲み物、濡れたものを置かないようにしましょう。
